Assignment #2-Personality and Obesity

We discussed in class how Sheldon's Body Type Paradigm had been used to predict personality (even to the extent of "profiling" for law enforcement). It appears, though, that certain personality traits are more common in persons who are obese. Read the following study summary by the American Psychological Association (APA)relating to the two traits (neuroticism and impulsivity).

This Fruit Salad is Fantastic!

Food is a big deal in most peoples' lives. Describe in as much detail as you care to share about your personal, emotional relationship with food of all kinds. Examples: Do you think about food? Or, is it no big deal...just something you have to do? Do you like to see others enjoy their food? Did your family always eat meals together or did everyone do their own thing? Do you prefer to eat in public or privately? Have your food preferences changed? Do you eat more when happy or sad, or bored? Do you precisely  measure your food intake? Would you fast for two days? Are you a vegetarian? A vegan? Has something you ate tasted so good that you cried? Or wrote a song about it? Use your imagination.........135 words or less. Post here by next Tuesday!

FYI: Sign-in Tips for Pearson Material

Tips for the future and/or to share with the class –
1. Problem: “I can’t access the Pearson materials. I logged in once and now I can’t get back to them.”
Here is the solution:
1. Once the student clicks “Start Here” and signs in, a window will appear (if the pop-up blocker is turned off) saying something along the lines of: “Thank you for logging in to access your Pearson content…”
2. Now, all you have to do is close the “Thank you for logging in” window – simply X out of it
3. go back to your Springboard page and click “Content” to access the Pearson materials listed by Chapter
2. Problem: “I can’t access the eBook on my iPad. I keep getting an error message.”
Here is the solution:
1. You will need to go to the App Store and download “Pearson eText” app.
2. Open the app and login using your Pearson login info
3. Your eText will appear on your bookshelf for you to access
4. When using the iPad, only access the eText through the App.
3. Problem: “I am using Safari on a Mac, and I can’t access the content. It keeps loading and never takes me to the page I want.”
Here is the solution:
1. First, make sure you logged in at the “Start Here” button. Once you receive the “thank you for logging in” message, simply X out of that window. Go back to your Springboard page and click Content to access the chapter material.
2. Next, if you’re still having trouble, you may need to run a Browser Tune-up to make sure your browser is fully compatible with the newest plug-ins, etc. Here is the link to our Tech Support page, where you can read the recommended settings for Safari. à http://247pearsoned.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/8802/kw/browser%20tune%20up%20for%20safari and http://247pearsoned.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/7352/kw/browser%20tune%20up
